It’s been a long time. The summer and fall were difficult seasons here, and I’m having this site redesigned, so stay tuned for that. I did want to link to my piece published in The Atlantic in December. I wrote about the fact that our children won’t know the telephone the way we did growing up. I realized one day that I’d never call out for Audrey, “Audrey…phone…it’s for you…” I usually write on themes of loss and as I was tossing the idea around to various people I’d see in the summer, one mother simply said, “It’s a lot of loss…” Yes, technology has made life convenient in many ways, but I think it’s important to notice the losses. What are your memories of the telephone?
